The new film “The Secret Life of Pets” has been much anticipated thanks to its creators past success with “Despicable Me” and “Minions.” So far, the reviews seem mixed.
Many reviews applaud the all-star casting, including Kevin Hart (who seems born to play a manic bunny), Hannibal Buress, Bobby Moynihan, Lake Bell, Jenny Slate, Louis C.K, Tara Strong, and Albert Brooks. Though some of the humor is not exactly child friendly, this will make adults in the audience hate their lives a little less when their kid drags them to this film.
Some negative points critics make is that the film feels too hectic at times with its fast pace and abundance of action scenes. The movie also features pets plotting to kill their owners and other morbid topics that might be too intense for kids.
A lot of critics who have reviewed the film so far have more neutral observations, rather than complaints or accolades. For example, many note that it is predictable, namely because the movie follows a similar story line to “Toy Story,” but with pets. Others say that many of the best jokes are in the movie’s trailer, but note that “laughs are laughs” whether or not you have heard the jokes already. Overall, reviewers find the movie pleasant, one that will not particularly offend or delight anyone but one that you will not regret spending ten dollars to see.
