James Cameron Plans To Return To The Terminator Franchise
Fans of the Terminator franchise can rejoice because there is hope for another good Terminator movie. James Cameron has directed two Terminator movies so far. The first one being The Terminator, and the second one being Terminator 2: Judgment Day. Both of them are considered really good action movies. However, there have been plenty of other Terminator movies that have come out. None of them have matched the quality of the first two installments. The most recent one Genisys has been considered the worst of the movies. The interesting thing was that both four and five were intended to reboot the franchise.
The rights to the franchise are going to revert to James Cameron in 2019. Therefore, he is planning one more film to be released in the franchise. Given James Cameron’s track record, one can expect that it is going to be a huge money maker. If he does manage to make the film, this could perhaps work as a trilogy for fans where they can skip Terminator 3, 4, and 5 and go straight to James Camerons Terminator movie if his plans do manifest. In order to show that he is serious, he has looked at some possible directors to helm the project.
Some fans do believe that the franchise is best left alone. For one thing, every director after James Cameron has failed to deliver on a high quality Terminator film. However, there is a Terminator project that has given a lot of promise. This project was the Sarah Connor Chronicles. This was a TV series that was an actual hit with the audience. It did justice to the mythos of The Terminator movies.
One thing that could be said about the Terminator franchise is that there is a possibility for yet another film in the franchise. If the film does turn out to be good, then it is best to end it on that note so that people can have a real good trilogy of films next to a trilogy of mediocre films.
