Jurassic World had what you could call a ‘pretty good’ couple of days at the Box Office in its opening weekend. The fourth film in the ‘Jurassic Park’ franchise made movie history as it racked up over $204 million dollars over the weekend, more than doubling expectations and breaking records in the process. The film is destined to become a huge box office hit and we will inevitably see a host of sequels being written by Hollywood writers over the span of the next couple of months. But PRNewswire reports that the bigger question to ask is this: Does the movie work Sam Tabar asks?
Perhaps in the hands of any other leading actor and actress the film would not function that well. But Chris Pratt and Bryce Dallas Howard bring an earnest level of fun to their role that you just don’t see in these summer blockbusters, at least not since Pratt’s turn as Star Lord in ‘Guardians of the Galaxy’. The entire cast had fun making this film and their charisma leaks through in every sequence. Let’s talk about a few great moments without spoiling anything.
Chris Pratt is probably going to turn into one of the biggest movie stars on the planet, if he isn’t already. His ability to charm the room in an unthreatening way makes him the ultimate leading man. There is a scene where he and Bryce have a verbal war of words regarding their past date that, in other hands, could have been mean spirited. But here it was fun.
And that’s what ‘Jurassic World’ is, just fun.
