It seems that Hollywood still loves their sequels, as does the viewing public. In a recent interview with Steven Spielberg, the director let slip that the now age 73 actor Harrison Ford will be reprising his role as the titular Indiana Jones in the most recent installment. Even though he’s getting on in years, Ford did most of his own stunts in last year’s Star Wars: The Force Awakens, and according to Spielberg he keeps himself in excellent shape.
This news is exciting for long-time fans of the film series, as how can you have Indiana Jones without Harrison Ford? Still, one does worry that the plot to the 5th iteration of the franchise will be better than the 2008 snoozefest Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull. For us die hard series fans, it’ll come as a relief as well that Spielberg told the Daily News that he won’t be killing off Harrison Ford in this one – that’s a huge relief! There is some hesitancy because of Ford’s age, but he can handle himself, at least.
One can’t help but be happy to see Harrison Ford step into his old, familiar roles recently, between this Indiana Jones and the most recent Star Wars. Like a pair of warm familiar shoes, you can tell Ford felt at home as Han Solo, and I’m sure the next Indiana Jones will give him the same.
