The Operation Smile program has been around for a number of years, helping children who are in need of simple, surgical care for conditions such as a cleft palette, on an international level. Avi Weisfogel has taken a great interest in this project, and recently set up a GoFundMe campaign that is designed to raise a minimum of two thousand dollars for this cause. The ultimate goal is to not only raise money for these children but to brighten their futures; providing them with a more confident and healthy smile.
In impoverished nations, cleft palette surgeries and other physical deformity corrections can be extremely difficult and expensive to accomplish. Weisfogel hopes to assist Operation Smile in making these procedures far more accessible. He explains:
“Operation Smile believes that every child deserves exceptional surgical care and that all children deserve to be treated as if they were our own. The organization wants to ensure that every child knows no matter what life throws at them, they will always have hope.”
For those children and their families who do not have access to proper medical care, Operation Smile steps in with their large staff of caring surgeons and staff. Currently, over 220,000 children have received procedures in over eighty different countries, thanks to Operation Smile and more funding means more children will be able to receive this type of care in the future. Avi Weisfogel is just one piece of the puzzle, but a large piece as every volunteer associated with Operation Smile helps bring about more hope for children internationally.
