New Company Looking to Helm Five Nights at Freddy’s Film

Five Nights at Freddy’s is a video game horror series that has been scaring people everywhere since 2014. At its core, this game involves you being a security guard that must watch over a group of evil animatronics. Five Nights at Freddy’s has spawned a cult-like following, with everyone trying to figure out the next project attached to this gaming phenomenon. The creator of this series, Scott Cawthon, is someone who has been known to leave subtle hints about the future of Freddy and his evil gang of monsters.

Social media is often an outlet for people to inform their audience of new projects that are around the corner. One cryptic image from Cawthon that was left on his social media feed is creating quite the buzz in the film world. A recent image surfaced on the Twitter feed of Five Nights at Freddy’s creator Scott Cawthon that is having everyone talking. The image features a director’s chair with the name Freddy stitched into it. In addition, this image features a movie theater display in the background featuring the Blumhouse Productions logo.

News of Blumhouse potentially producing this film is certainly a change in plans for anyone who has been following the production woes of this project. Originally, a Five Nights at Freddy’s film was rumored to be produced by Warner Bros. However, near the beginning of 2017, Cawthon confirmed that the production was no longer happening. It appears, if Blumhouse Productions stays with the Five Nights at Freddy’s film, it could be a horror match made in heaven.

Blumhouse Productions has been producing many recent hit Hollywood horror films even on a low budget. Having to overcome budget woes is something that Cawthon knows very well since Five Nights at Freddy’s has always been an independently made game. Recent hits including Get Out and The Purge series, all made by Blumhouse Productions, is showing Hollywood that independent studios can create amazing horror films. Cawthon and Blumhouse Productions working together could very well mean an indie masterpiece is created.
