This summer promises to be a great time for movie fans. One of the highly anticipated Marvel releases that kicked off this spring, “Avengers: Infinity War”, is currently the number one box office hit as of this writing. I had the opportunity to watch the movie this past weekend. The end of the movie left many moviegoers puzzled as to the fate of the main characters. If you have not watched the movie, I would suggest you not read the rest of this article. In the Huffington Post, Bill Bradley discusses possible leaks from a few years ago that provided hints to a possible sequel. Below we will discuss the article and provide some insights to the leaks. The entire article can be read at the following link: https://www.huffingtonpost.com/entry/avengers-4-leaks-get-support-2-year-old-interview-marvel-directors_us_5aeb3dcde4b041fd2d242a37
One blogger named ‘ilurkthingsreborn’ has claimed to have an inside source from Marvel and has successfully predicted some of the scenes from Infinity War before it’s release. Much of this blogger’s speculation of a sequel stems from Captain America and his weapon from Infinity War. One of the scenes gives clues to the possible sequel in which Captain America, Thor and Thanos are involved in a fight scene. The significance of one of Thor’s weapons called the MJolnir was supposedly destroyed in a previous Thor movie but questions were raised as to why it would have relevance in Infinity War. After the blogger asked The Russo Brothers (Captain America directors) about the significance of Thor’s Hammer and Captain America’s ability to use it (which was not part of any previous Captain America movies), they replied that it could be a ‘set up for a future sequel’. Other leaks include a possible death of Captain America which did not happen in Infinity Wars.
In my opinion, I agree with the bloggers claims and I anticipate that there will likely be a sequel due to the overwhelming popularity of Infinity War and unanswered questions that have been raised in Bill’s article. It appears we will have a few more Marvel blockbusters in the summers to come!
With ‘Avengers: Infinity War’ currently ripping a hole through the record books of box office history, it seems only fitting to look back in time at the character that got the entire MCU off to a hot start: Iron Man. Tony Stark, played to perfection by Robert Downey Jr, is inarguably the heart and soul of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The billionaire-playboy-philanthropist has turned into one of the most iconic characters in comic book history and his continued growth up to and into ‘Infinity War’ serves to reminds viewers just how powerful the character’s arc has been. For fans not looking to read spoilers about ‘Infinity War’ now is your one and only warning.
May 2nd, 2008 was the start of Tony Stark’s journey in the Marvel Cinematic Universe in the now-legendary ‘Iron Man’ standalone film. With little more than the bare bones of a script and a slate of talented actors, including Jeff Bridges and Gwyneth Paltrow, ‘Iron Man’ opened up the MCU with a bang and a flourish. Now, a decade later, Stark is at the center of the biggest comic book event of all time: the Infinity Wars featuring Thanos, the Mad Titan.
In ‘Infinity War’, Stark takes on a major role as the leader in bringing the fight to Thanos himself. Alongside Doctor Strange and Spider-Man, Stark presents himself as once more the savior of mankind — willing to put his life on the line in order to put Thanos’ away for good, echoing the events of the first ‘Avengers’ film and the attack on New York. Stark is still, at heart, much the same character as he has always been but now there is a layer of responsibility and gravitas that permeates every action he takes. No longer is he the carefree, happy-go-lucky bringer of technology and death. Every move is calculated, every word is weighed, and each action he takes is predicated on saving his home from Thanos. It’s this ability, making a flamboyant comic book character into a true hero, that has given Marvel and Tony Stark the edge over any other competitive options in the comic book world.
Captain America. Thor. Doctor Strange. Thanos. Tony Stark. Spider-Man. Ten years of work has led up to the release of the most ambitious crossover film of all time, ‘Avengers: Infinity War’. With some of the most recognizable names in nerd-culture anchoring the film, and some of the most charismatic actors in the world representing them, it is the unassuming (but beautiful) Zoe Saldana that steals the show. Saldana plays the complex-yet-fearless Guardian of the Galaxy, Gamora, and she sets the tone as the heart and soul of the ‘Infinity War’ film — and that’s just fine by us. If you have not seen ‘Infinity War’ you might want to turn back now for there are spoilers coming your way.
Gamora is the Daughter of Thanos. Stolen from her home planet after her mother was killed, Thanos made her into something of his personal pet-project. He raised her to be the perfect killer and credits her as being the most dangerous ‘woman in the galaxy’ because of his upbringing. There is true love and pride in Thanos’ voice when he says this and Gamora, despite herself, feels something in return. Unfortunately for Gamora, the complex and Stockholm-like feelings that she has for Thanos end up undoing her. It is revealed, roughly 2/3rds of the way through ‘Infinity War’, that she must be killed in order for Thanos to acquire the Soul Stone. Thanos does the deed in one of the most powerful moments in the entire Marvel Cinematic Universe and fans everywhere are left shocked to their core.
While Gamora has to die for Thanos to succeed and, ultimately, push the story forward, it is what her character did in life that will be remembered. Gamora elevates the stakes for everyone involved while giving Chris Pratt’s character, Peter Quill, one of the most beautiful and frustrating character arcs in the entire film. Gamora’s presence looms large over every sequence, from Titan and Knowhere all the way back to Wakanda on Earth, and that is by design. She is the fabric by which the MCU has pulled itself together and we praise the Russo Brothers and James Gunn for handling her growth so well.
Disney and Marvel’s team-up brings box office gold. Each institution of entertainment is a mega hit all on there own but when they collaborate like with Avengers: Infinity War. The end product brings in millions. This particular movie has already brought in over $800 million globally and is quickly approaching the billion dollar mark. It ties with another little box office smash from Disney, Star Wars: The Force Awakens. Both are films that hit 300 million in U.S. sales in 5 days.
This is another Russo brothers directorial and is believed to be one of the biggest gathering of superheroes in one movie. The casting of stars for Avengers: Infinity War surpasses Black Panther, Iron Man, and Thor. With everything going for it, this movie can’t lose. It’s grabbing records along the way like Biggest Domestic Opening of All Time, Biggest Worldwide Opening of All Time, Biggest Superhero Opening of All Time, Biggest Saturday and Sunday of All Time in North America. It had its world premiere on April 23, 2018, for a limited engagement in L.A. and was released nationwide on April 27, 2018.
Avengers: Infinity War was the second most expensive film made coming in at $321 million to produce and boasts of 16 writing credits to its title. The film is based on Marvel Comic’s Superheroes gathering their strength for the worst threat yet, Thanos. As he takes possession of the Power Stone from the planet Xandar, mayhem ensues. Thanos’s grand plan is to kill half of the life in the universe. Of course, this is not going to sit well with our superheroes.

It seems like only a year or two ago that people were lauding the death of the cinematic box office. People just aren’t going to movies anymore, they said. People don’t want to pay $15 per ticket when they can just wait to catch the film at home, they said. Well, Marvel Studios and Disney continue to buck the trend. Marvel’s newest, and most ambitious film ever, has completely shuttered the doors on the concept of the dying cinema and in doing so they’ve shattered global box office records forever.
Marvel’s ‘Infinity War’ is the culmination of ten years of hard work by MCU leader Kevin Feige. The film wraps up a decade’s worth of storylines while balancing one of the most star-studded casts in cinematic history. The budget for acting talent alone is something purely out of this world. Still, ‘Infinity War’ tapped into the hype of their fanbase and Marvel Studios lived up to expectations by releasing one of the most solid blockbuster movies of all time, and ticket returns are definitely mimicking that quality. Through just its opening weekend, ‘Infinity War’ has already pulled in an eye-popping $640.9 MILLION at the global box office. To put this in perspective, this is more than DC’s own super-movie, ‘Justice League’, earned during its ENTIRE domestic run. The prior global box office record had been held by Universal’s sleek action-racing flick, ‘The Fate of the Furious’, which had pulled in $541 million during its global opening weekend.
In terms of domestic sales, Marvel also shattered the record previously held by Disney’s ‘The Force Awakens’. During their domestic opening weekend, ‘Infinity War’ brought in Marvel Studios nearly $258 million. ‘The Force Awakens’ had previously held the record with a smooth $248 million of their own. Thanks to this incredible opening, as well as their long history of success — notably with the recent release of ‘Black Panther’ — Disney now has 9 out of the top 10 highest grossing openings in the entire history of North American cinema. To say that Disney is on another level would be underselling everything. Disney is currently in an entirely different universe.
On Thursday, actor Anthony Mackie stopped by “Good Morning America” to discuss the upcoming “Avengers: Infinity War” movie. It’s expected to be one of the biggest superhero movies ever as it will feature the greatest collection of Avengers superheroes together in one film. Not only will it feature heroes, but some brand new villains who have yet to appear on the big screen. A clip shown on “GMA” during Mackie’s appearance gave viewers a look at some of those villains known as “The Black Order” in the Marvel comics.
The “Good Morning America” YouTube channel features a video of Mackie discussing the upcoming movie. Mackie, who plays the superhero Falcon in the “Avengers” movies, said he was only allowed to see about 25 pages of the movie script, but joked there was another 250 pages of it. He mentioned that he mainly got to take a look at the part of the script focusing on the movie’s final battle.
Mackie also spoke about the improvisation that took place while filming due to the fact so many different characters from the Marvel cinematic universe were assembled together for the first time. That provided a collection of acting talents which spanned all of the Marvel films that have been released so far.
For example, Spider-Man, Doctor Strange, and the Guardians of the Galaxy characters weren’t featured in “Captain American: Civil War,” while many of the other superheroes in “Infinity War” were part of that previous film. That makes for a lot of new interactions in the newest movie.
The folks at “GMA” also showed a very brief clip from the movie which shows Black Widow and Captain America battling members of the Black Order. Mackie’s Falcon eventually flies in to give an assist to help them take advantage of the numbers game. After the clip is finished, Mackie explained how he performed his “swift kick” move, thanks to the help of a skilled stuntman.
For those unfamiliar, the Black Order consists of three villains who act as Thanos’ henchmen. They are Ebony Maw, Cull Obsidian, and Proxima Midnight. Their roles are handled in the upcoming film by Terry Notary, Tom Vaughan-Lawlor, and Carrie Coon. Prior to the new clip’s release, fans had seen one part of the trailer in which Doctor Strange is confronted by one of the Black Order.
The wait will be over for movie fans as “Avengers: Infinity War” is set for release in theaters on Friday, April 27th all around the United States.
Infinity War Set to Be Second Most Expensive Film Produced
Avengers: Infinity War is due out in theaters one week from now, and is sure to be one of the most, if not the most highly anticipated films for the year.
So it should come as no surprise that the movie’s reported production budget was among the highest ever, in fact being the second most expensive film ever produced, not including any inflation rates. It’s a well known fact that most movies nowadays are not cheap to produce, but given the fact that Infinity War was meant to conclude a story that has been steadily building over a decade, Marvel Studios was eventually going to have to spend a bit more money.
The fact that there is a large number of cast members involved with filming alone means a lot of money was going to have to be spent on production. Luckily, the Marvel Cinematic Universe hasn’t had a problem with money, considering they are a $14 billion enterprise that has made nothing but solid hits at the box office since it was first started.
In fact, the team-up films in the franchise have been the most expensive as far as budgets go, with Captain America: Civil War costing $250 million to make and Avengers: Age of Ultron being made for $279.8 million. Infinity War, which was said to have a production around $300 million, will be one of the few films that exceeds the aforementioned two, making it one of the most expensive films ever made. It would actually make it a three-way tie with Justice League and Pirates of the Caribbean: At World’s End for second highest budget.
Despite the number for the huge production budget, Marvel Studios isn’t the least bit concerned about making a profit off of the film. With all of the hype and anticipation to the conclusion of this ten-year story, Infinity War could prove to be a rival for The Force Awakens in terms of breaking the box office record for an opening weekend. Reaching the $1 billion box office club is almost a guarantee at this point, with everything in mind.
The Russo brothers have reportedly stated that Avengers: Infinity War was a greater challenge than Avengers 4. While some may take this to mean that Avengers 4 will probably not be as big as Infinity War, this could also mean that there have been plenty of challenges that they had to overcome in Infinity War. Then by the time they got to Avengers 4, they have gotten used to the challenges. At the same time, it is very likely that they are going to be dealing with fewer characters than Infinity War depending on what happens in the upcoming film.
One thing that has been reported on is the apparent plot elements of the post Infinity War film. For one thing, it is said to involve time travel. There have been looks of Robert Downey Jr and Chris Evans in their previous MCU looks which indicates earlier eras of the MCU. For one thing, many fans have speculated on what is very likely to happen in the upcoming Avengers film. One thing that is certain is that it is loosely based on the Infinity Gauntlet as well as some of the other stories that feature Thanos.
Given that the Russo brothers have made it clear that the fact that they are holding out on the title should scare fans, it is very likely that there are going to be a lot of scary and heartbreaking events in Infinity War. These events are also very shocking to the point that the Russo Brothers have made sure that the real script did not get out into the hands of anyone other than a few people. Given that some actors have an issue with revealing the secret plot lines, the directors have taken it upon themselves to make sure that even the actors are unaware of what could happen. One thing that they have done was give out scripts with fake scenes so that people will not know what is actually going to happen.
2018 is shaping up to be a big year for the Avengers with the upcoming Avengers Infinity War. However, there is already potential spoilers being revealed for the movie coming after Infinity War. This spoiler has a lot to do with the fate of Tony Stark. There has been a lot of speculation that Tony Stark is going to be one of the characters that are not going to return after Avengers 4. For one thing, Phase 4 is going to bring in a lot of changes, especially with the buy out of 21st Century Fox by Disney.
One example of a spoiler is an image shown on Pepper Potts’s poster that shows her holding a severely damaged Iron Man mask. This gives a strong hint to the possible death of Tony Stark. Also, the original source material that Infinity War and Avengers 4 are based on does depict one of the characters sacrificing themselves for the world not through death, but through being trapped. Either way, Avengers 3 and 4 are going to be a couple of the largest events of the coming years. The magnitude of these films are going to compete with the Star Wars films.
Then Phase 4 is when it gets even more interesting because there are a ton of characters that are available for the MCU to use. It is highly likely that X-Men is going to join the MCU as early as Avengers 4. Then people get the chance to experience their favorite mutants on the screen like never before. This is going to be another big period in the MCU. However, there are people that are speculating that at some point, it is going to be time for comic book movies to step aside because the audience is going to be looking for something different. Perhaps after the MCU version of X-Men has run their course is when the movies start to wind down for the comic book characters.
