Peaky Blinders Helmer To Direct Hot Air Ballooning Movie Announced By Amazon Studios

Amazon Studios will once again bring a stellar cast to its latest outing as a production house with a number of the top talent from the U.K. rumored to be taking on roles in “The Aeronauts”. Perhaps the biggest rumor to gain traction around the movie is that of “The Theory of Everything” stars, Eddie Redmayne and Felicity Jones are in talks to team up once again to star in the production planned to start filming early in 2018, Redmayne won an Academy-Award for his role as Stephen Hawking in “The Theory of Everything” and “Rogue One” star Jones was nominated for her performance in the same movie.

Deadline reports the movie will focus on a series of true-life events played out in the 19th-century which saw balloon pilot, Amelia Wren, and scientist, James Glaisher head a journey into the outer reaches of the atmosphere to explore the secrets held high in the outer reaches of the planet. Tension rises when the action-adventure movie sees the pair battling to survive as they explore a part of the atmosphere no human had yet reached in the 19th-century.

The impressive cast is just one reason for the confidence Amazon Studios has in the project. Up and coming director Tom Harper has already been announced as heading up the production to follow on from the critically-acclaimed work he has achieved helming a range of top TV productions for the BBC including “Peaky Blinders” and “War and Peace”. Mandeville Films is producing the movie the company hopes will continue the success already seen by its latest release, the heart-warming drama “Wonder” which has already taken an impressive $70 million at the box office in just ten days. Acclaimed writer, Jack Thorne is attached to the script which will continue his own association with Mandeville Films after filling a similar position on “Wonder”. Thorne is also known for his work adapting the upcoming BBC drama based on the “His Dark Materials” trilogy by Philip Pullman and his writing for the “Harry Potter” franchise.
