Mad Max: Fury Road is not even close to being out of theaters and, yet, talk about the Blu-ray release is emerging. The news is not premature by any means. The Blu-ray release is going to be quite different than what moviegoers saw in theaters. Oh, and the lawyers say that it is still going to be the same film. The main difference is the home entertainment version of Fury Road is going to be in black and white. Did director George Miller originally want to release the film in theaters in black and white? He might have. Obviously, this did not happen and, likely, the studios balked heavily at any suggestions to do so.
Releasing action movies in black and white became somewhat of a trend/gimmick with the release of the brilliant Sin City in 2005. That film was an homage to the film noir genre so the shooting in black and white made perfect sense. The comic book it was based on was also a black and white endeavor. Why would Miller want to release Mad Max: Fury Road in b/w? We’ll have to wait for the Blu-ray release to see how his visions works in this style.
Ben Stiller’s mother passed at the age of 85. She was a beloved actress and known for many roles. I personally loved her best in “King of Queens” where she played along side her famous husband. She worked with her famous husband for over 61 years making television history. She is known for starring in shows like “The Ed Sullivan Show” and on soap operas.
She was a legend and one of a kind. She knew how to take any role and make it her own. Though she passed with her family and friends surrounding her on Saturday, no other details about her death is available. Hollywood lost a legend and Ben a wonderful mother. How does a son and father pick up the pieces and go on after such a loss as this?
It’s been a difficult year in Tinsel town with the loss of so many greats. Susan McGalla thinks some of the best actors and actresses there were have passed leaving huge holes in the entertainment industry that no on will be able to fill. For her son, he looses a mother and friend that will forever impact his life. Anne Meara will be missed and loved. She had the unique ability to entice any role and make sure that you were captivated by her charming smile and great whit. Rest in peace Anne, you changed television and movie history and made the world a better place.
Fans of Western movies might be happy to know that one of the all time classics, “The Magnificent Seven,” is being remade. Its cast will include Ethan Hawke, Chris Pratt, Denzel Washington and Kevin Seawright and Peter Sarsgaard is in final negotiations to play the bad guy in the new film, according to xing.com. It is slated for early 2017 release, and It’s good to know that amidst all the futuristic, superhero type movies a good old Western is in the Hollywood line up as well. Jason Mamoa recently turned down a role in this movie. He will be playing Aquaman in “Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice,” which hits theaters next year. There will also be a standalone film for the Aquaman character, so it looks like Jason Mamoa’s film-making schedule is already busy.
The cast of this remake are certainly talented actors who can hold their own in any movie. That said, any remake of the original classic western will have unbelievably big shoes to fill. It will be interesting to see a modern film take on this story, but it will have to be damn good to come close to beating, Yul Brenner, Steve McQueen and James Coburn in their prime. Eli Wallach was also one of the best bad guys on film in the role of the despot Calvera. I don’t envy the actors who will face the inevitable comparisons to the original film, but as good as the original was, this might pull off a surprise and show it up. Only time will tell.
‘Mad Max’ was a classic seventies film, and the movie launched the career of Mel Gibson. The original film was so good that a trilogy was made. CBS has decided that it needs to jump into the action arena and produce its own super hero television show. After competing networks have seen success with network television shows such as Arrow, (aka Green Arrow), The Flash, Gotham and even Netflicks’s offering of Daredevil, CBS reached out to the planet Krypton to borrow Superman’s cousin, Supergirl. The show will be an anchor show on the Monday lineup and promised to add a punch to the network lineup which was on its last legs as the CSI series were beginning to drag out.
CBS provided fans with more than a tease on their Facebook by airing a seven minute clip introducing the show to fans. The clip included the introduction of some of the key characters and included more action than many are used to seeing in a tease for network television show. before you new it, you found yourself hooked to the show and looking for its first air date. Fans are already wondering if the show will have any tie ends to other DC Comic heros. The new Superman versus Batman movie promises to have tie ends with Aquaman has well as Wonderwoman.
The Flash has had tie ends with Arrow, also of the DC Comic family. While Supergirl is not an official member of the Justice League, many fans are hoping for a cameo of her famous cousin Kal El. CBS Beefs Up Fall TV Line Up With Supergirl
Jurassic World has just received its rating from the MPAA and has received a PG-13 rating. This should not come as much of a surprise. To some, the rating actually is a relief. Concerns over whether or not the film would drop down to a PG rating did weigh on the mind of some diehard Jurassic Park fans like Brad Reifler who is excited for the good old dinosaur scare (bradcreifler.com).
While it is true these films are designed to be family friendly, there are also intended to present thrills, chills, and more than a few scare. Big dinosaurs are supposed to put a bit of a fright into people. Would a PG rated man-eating dinosaur be any less scary than a PG-13 one. Honestly, the rating reflects the tone of Jurassic World. Going into pure PG-rating land could mean the edge ends up being taken off of a somewhat serious fantasy-adventure tale.
A PG version of a Jurassic tale could mean the series is going the “Finding Nemo” route of family fare. In other words, the adventure would be bereft of any scares and the narrative ends up containing a lot of cutesy humor. Taking Jurassic World into such a direction surely runs the risk of turning a potential blockbuster into an outright disaster.
Studios have made horrible mistakes in the past. Apparently, this particular film is on the right track. Hopefully, fans of the original films have long memories and they show up in theaters when this one opens.
If you were to look inside the purses of some of the Harry Potter characters, you might find some odd items, but there could also be some items that you might find in your own purse. Hermione might have some yarn in her purse along with a picture of her family, a few books and some makeup. Ginny might have lipstick in red, a ruby ring, lotion and a chaser badge. Stevetastic reports this is because she is a chaser for the team when playing Quidditch. One of the girls who might have a few odd items is Luna. She likes dreams, so there could be gems or a book of spells. This is a fun topic to think about, but it also shows that women keep various items in their purses. No one woman is the same, and no purse will contain exactly the same kinds of things for the woman to use.
The movie Avengers broke numerous records and was slated to be the best superhero movie of its kind during this decade. That statement was true until Avengers 2: Age of Ultron broke through the horizon. Robert Downey Jr. is probably the most famous actor out of the entire Avengers cast. Even when he stars in other non-superhero films, movie goers equate him with Iron Man. The one type of movie people will never see Robert Downey Jr. star in is independent or indie films. When Downey Jr. released this statement, many people were shocked to hear such an arrogant statement come from such a beloved actor. It wasn’t before long that the critically acclaimed actor took to the airwaves to explain his statement. The actor explained that independent films often take a lot out of a person. The nights are long, you’re expected to work through birthdays and holidays, and when you’re as big of a star as Downey people often expect you to fund the movie entirely. Even then, Downey said, the movie could still “suck”. The people behind it would ask for his honest opinion, he’d tell the truth, and they would still believe that their rubbish was a stroke of art. There were a lot of people who criticized Downey for expressing himself in such a way. I can’t help but respect him for this truth. Hollywood is probably filled with actors and actresses who were sucked into doing low budget films. They probably spent hundreds of thousands of dollars funding these films only to hate them later. Downey may have upset people who think that he believes that he is ‘too big’ to do independent films, when in all actuality, he is too honest.
A few people at Madison Street Capital introduced me to the story about Downey Jr and this is how I feel about it.
The Asian continent is by far one of the best places to release a movie. There are die hard fans over there unlike anywhere else in the world. With such a large fan base, many of the movie companies have to allocate a large number of screens in order for the fans to get what they want. While this is good for the fans and the people behind the movies, this is upsetting for people who have no interest in these blockbuster films. Moviegoers are complaining that they can barely find other films in theaters these days because of the movie monopolies. They aren’t necessarily against the blockbuster, but they want to enjoy their films as well. They feel like they have every right to equal and fair entertainment access. After all, they are paying for their tickets. Movie companies like CJ CGV, Lotte Cinema and Megabox should allocate some of the money from the bigger box offices and add more screens to their lineups. In the meantime, they could even add more showings to the theater roster. Fersen Lambranho thinks that many citizens as well as company owners have new fears over this. Korea Times US states that, “The industry might be destroyed in five years without measures to ensure co-existence,” he said. “We need to settle the issue by setting up a double regulation that would ban a film from taking up more than 40 percent of screens nationwide and half of the number of screens at a theater.”
